Wellness Week 2024

We know life can be busy, and it’s easy to prioritise everyone else’s needs over your own. But let us remember that you can’t pour from an empty cup!

In honour of Wellness Week 2024, we want to remind you to take some time out for yourself.  After all, wellness encompasses physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual health – which all crucial for overall happiness and a good quality of life.

Here are some top tips to help improve and maintain your mental well-being:

Stay Connected and Talk: Maintain strong social connections with friends and family. Sharing your feelings with someone you trust can be incredibly therapeutic.

Practice Gratitude: Regularly reflect on what you’re grateful for. It’s a powerful way to shift your focus towards positivity.

Get Active: Exercise releases endorphins, boosting mood and reducing stress. Find something you enjoy, whether it’s walking, running, biking, swimming, or yoga.

Connect with Nature: Spending time outdoors can significantly reduce anxiety and depression. Just twenty minutes outside can lower your cortisol levels (the stress hormone).

Eat a Balanced Diet: Nutrition impacts mental health. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, and stay hydrated.

Prioritise Sleep: Avoid screens before bedtime. Instead, curl up with a book or enjoy a relaxing bath with lavender oil or Epsom salts.

Manage Stress: Develop stress management techniques like mindfulness, meditation, deep breathing, or yoga. You can even use apps that can help you with guided mediation or affirmations.

Set Realistic Goals: Break down goals into smaller, achievable steps to reduce overwhelm and boost your sense of accomplishment.

Seek Help: It’s okay to ask for help if you’re struggling. Counselling, therapy, energy healing, or complementary therapies can all offer valuable support.

Limit Screen Time: Excessive screen time, especially on social media, can contribute to stress. Be sure to set boundaries and take breaks.

Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself and avoid self-criticism, especially during challenging times. Don’t forget the small wins too!

Volunteer or Help Others: Helping others can provide a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
